The Globe English Center is situated in Exeter. Capital city of Devon county, Exeter is 2 hours from London and 20 minutes from the sea. The region is the top British tourist destination, thanks to its rich mixture of culture, beauty, charm and proximity to some of the best beaches in Britain. One of Britain’s safest cities, Exeter is the ideal location to combine learning a language with making new friends. Exeter boasts the sunniest and warmest climate in Britain, and Devon has been voted the "Best County in Britain". Exeter is regularly voted Top British City for Quality of Life: lowest crime and pollution levels; best cultural, recreational, welfare and commercial facilities. The sea and beaches are within 20 minutes of the city centre. It has easy access to London - only 2 hours by train. Exeter has its own airport and other airports are easy to reach - London Heathrow, Bristol. Exeter is a vibrant city with a large student population and a buzzing nightlife with music, night clubs, cafés and restaurants.

Conveniently situated in the City centre within a 10-minute walk from the main shops and sports centers, the Globe’s beautifully modernized 19th century buildings offer excellent facilities. The center is surrounded by trees and gardens with lovely views over the Exe valley.


Each classroom is comfortably equipped and has a whiteboard, CD player, television and DVD which are integrated into the teaching programme. A large screen and projector are available for integrated e-learning and viewing films, an excellent way to improve your English.

Discovery programme (Age 11-14, 15-19): The course includes 20 lessons of English per week in a group of maximum 15. The duration of each lesson is 45 minutes.
This stimulating course offers a dynamic teaching programme which encourages oral communication, activates passive knowledge and above all develops confidence. The varied social programme gives new opportunities to practice English, while discovering and enjoying the culture and way of life of British people.

Explorers programme (Age 7-10): 20 lessons per week, plus full social programme of activities, visits & excursions
This course is aimed at primary school children. Lessons and social programme follow the same pattern as the Discovery Courses but are adapted to suit this age group. Our Primary teachers run a very lively and stimulating class with project work and many hands-on activities and games. Children will only be accepted on courses of 3 weeks or more if they are with a parent or sibling.

Intensive courses (Age 13 +): This is a language-based course which includes study skills and curriculum subject lessons. It prepares young students from the age of 13 for entry into the British Education System. During the course the school can arrange visits to local private schools and colleges which may be able to accept students. The center can find a suitable school for your child and help you with admission procedures.
The course includes minimum 25 lessons in a group of 8.

Closed groups courses
The following courses are designed for students from the same establishment or institution who have a common and specific purpose for studying. Details and quotes on request.

Curriculum programme (Age 13 +): The course includes 20 lessons per week in a group of maximum 15. This course may be built around themes from the school curriculum (history, literature, geography, the environment, etc) as requested by the students’ subject teachers or may be selected from the current list of topics. It combines General English with topic areas that the students are particularly interested in. Visits, activities and excursions are planned to complement and illustrate the contents of the course. Lessons are designed to both improve students’ communicative ability in English and to expand their knowledge of the topic areas.

Future careers (15 +): The course includes 20 lessons per week in a group of maximum 15.
Depending on the course of study chosen and prospective career (in marketing, business, industry, tourism, agriculture, health, etc...), the school organizes visits to companies and businesses, one-day work placements, lectures, etc. All visits are prepared thoroughly in class and students are encouraged to give presentations and feedback about the visits, comparing systems in England to those in their own country.

Courses for adults and teachers all year round

General English Courses: 20 and 28 lessons for Beginner to Advanced Students.
Authentic English: To improve your communicative English and knowledge of British and American life and culture.
Examination Programmes: For Cambridge and IELTS Examinations. Other examinations on request.
Business English: To work with more confidence in the international business community.
Teachers’ Programmes: For business, primary and secondary school teachers who wish to keep up with new developments in the English language and the methodology of teaching.
One-to-One and Closed Groups: For students who want to make rapid progress or need English for specific

Sports and cultural events

Exeter has many excellent sports centers and playing fields, which offer tennis, golf, football, cycling, bowling, swimming, horse riding, dry slope skiing, squash and more. The River Exe also provides a variety of water sports: canoeing, sailing and wind surfing. The school has 2 south facing terraces, a playground and a large garden with views over the valley where students can relax with friends and teachers or enjoy a barbecue party.

Exeter is ideally situated for exploring this beautiful region. You can spend the afternoon at the seaside or walk in the mysterious Dartmoor National Park, ride a steam train along the charming Dart valley or visit other cities like Plymouth, Bristol, Bath and London. Meet your friends and teachers at evening parties, films and barbecues after a wonderful day out!
A feast of music, dance, theatre, celebrations, fireworks and street entertainment which lasts 2 weeks, generally at the beginning of July.

Meals and accommodation

Children are offered to stay at host families. Families are within walking distance of approximately 30 minutes/2.80 km and on a bus route.
Accommodation is also offered in the nearby campus.
