Day 1

Arrival-Genocide Museum-Garni-Geghard-Yerevan

After breakfast at the hotel start the city tour including Republic Square, Yerevan State University, Victory Bridge, Tsitsernakaberd (1915 Genocide Memorial), Sports & Concerts complex, Kiev Bridge, Parliament, Palace of President, Academy of Sciences, Opera house, State Museum of History of Armenia. Drive to Garni pagan temple which is a wonderful piece of Hellenistic architecture and the only surviving pagan temple in Armenia. It used to be the summer residence of the Armenian kings. Lunch tasting Armenian traditional food and watching lavash baking and barbeque making process in Armenian traditional underground oven “tonir”. Proceed to the magnificent monastic complex Geghard, which is inscribed in UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.

 

Day 2

Yerevan-Khor Virap-Noravank-Areni-Jermuk

After breakfast at the hotel drive to Khor Virap, which is famous for its deep dungeon where the first Armenian Catholicos was kept for long 13 years. Proceed to the gorgeous Noravank passing through high
picturesque rocks. Lunch tasting traditional Armenian dishes in a cave café. After lunch continue to the village of Areni to taste delicate smooth and gentle Armenian wine. Recent archeological expeditions in this region have unearthed the oldest in the world winery, thus proving that the village is has the oldest traditions of wine production. Continue to the spa town Jermuk famous with its healthy mineral waters. Dinner and overnight in Jermuk.

 

Day 3

Jermuk-Karahunj-Devil’s Bridge-Tatev-Vahanavank-Goris

After breakfast at the hotel drive to Karahunj or also called Zorats Karer. The astronomical observatory in Armenia is older than the Stonehenge in Britain. Lunch tasting Armenian traditional food. Go to the 9th century Tatev Monastery which is considered to be one of Armenia’s wonders. The longest cableway in the world will help you capture all the magic of the nature in the region of Syunik. Proceed to the 10th century monastery of Vahanavank located in the lush forests of the Armenian snazzy nature. Vahanavank can be outlined against the bright blue sky on the rocky hills. From above you can enjoy the splendid panorama all around, including the Vahanadzor canyon. Drive to the gorgeous town of Goris or Kapan. Dinner and overnight in Goris or Kapan.

 

Day 4

Khndzoresk-Yeranos-Noratus-Sevanavank-Sevan

After breakfast at the hotel drive to the village of Khndzoresk known as a cave town. Decades ago the caves, many of which were carved by men, were used not only as dwellings, but also as a sanctuary. Drive to the beautiful town of Yeranos which hosts a church dating to 1215. Continue the tour to Noraduz is an ancient Armenian village famous for its cemetery of cross-stones, the largest one in the territory of Armenia. Many of khachkhars in the cemetery of Noradouz date back to the 13-17th centuries, and the oldest one dates back to the 5th century. Lunch tasting traditional Armenian dishes. Go to the monastery of Sevanavank. The monastery was once of the strictest ones, as it was mainly intended for the monks in Echmiadzin who had sinned. Dinner and overnight in Sevan.

 

Day 5

Sevan City Tour-Dilijan

After breakfast at the hotel start the city tour. Lunch tasting traditional Armenian dishes. Drive to Dilijan, the gorgeous forested region rich in mineral waters some of which are comparable to those at Vichy in France and Davos in Switzerland. Visit the monasteries of Goshavank (12th c.) and Haghartsin (10-13th c.). Dinner and overnight in Dilijan.

 

Day 6

Dilijan-Sanahin-Haghpat-Odzun-Dsegh

After breakfast at the hotel drive to the monasteries of Haghpat and Sanahin, both are inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the 12th century Armenian Kobayr church. Lunch tasting traditional Armenian dishes. Go to the villages of Odzun, Dsegh, Dzoraget rich in nature. Dinner and overnight in Lori.

 

Day 7

Lori-Marmashen-Harichavank-Yereruyk-Aruch-Tegher-Mughni-Saghmosavank-Oshakan-Yerevan

After breakfast at the hotel drive to Marmashen situated on a picturesque shelf facing the left bank of the Akhuryan River surrounded by fruitful trees, a stream and a nice waterfall. Visit the 2nd century BC monastery Harichavank. This famous monastic center was once a well known school and scriptorium. The church was originally built as a martyr’s shrine. The place later became a summer residence for the Catholicos. Proceed to the 5th century basilica called Yereruyk. The basilica is one of the most vivid examples of Christian architecture. Lunch tasting traditional dishes. Drive to the village of Aruch which was once the winter camp for the army. The village now hosts a church constructed in 660s of great value. Drive to the village of Tegher. Thegher is a small half desolated village, where only a few dozens of houses can be seen. Besides the semi-ruined houses, the village also hosts the remains of a funerary chapel. The village of Tegher was once famous for its healing herbs, growing in the territory of the village. And the name of the village comes from here, as “degher” in Armenian means “medicine.” Drive to Mughni. Since prehistoric times the town has been hosting the holy site of Mughni church. The church protects the relics of St. George. Drive to Saghmosavank. The unique interior of Saghmosavank makes an unforgettable impression on every visitor. Drive to the village of Oshakan where the church of the first teacher and the creator of the Armenian alphabet Mesrop Mashtots is located. Drive to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.

 

Day 8

Yerevan-Echmiadzin-Sardarapat-Zvartnots-Yerevan

After breakfast at the hotel start tour to Echmiadzin, the holy city of Armenia. Visit the Holy See of Armenian Catholicos, Echmiadzin with its main Cathedral (4th c.), St. Gayane (7th c.), St. Hripsime (7th c.), St. Shoghakat churches (17th c.). All of them are included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continue the tour to Memorial Park of Sardarapat. Drive back to Yerevan with a stop at the ruins of Zvartnots (7th c.). The latter is also included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner and overnight in Yerevan.
