Welcome to one of the most interesting and amusing countries not only in Europe, but perhaps, in the whole world! This land has strikingly preserved its historical traditions and has been able to make a harmonious combination.

The French Republic is the largest one among the countries of West Europe, and covers the fifth part of European Union territory. The country is located in Western part of the European Continent, bordering with six states. Notwithstanding this, the sea borders of this country are more stretched than land borders.

France has an important geographical position and is considered to be a “crossroad”. The important commercial roads have been passing through this crossroad during the course of the time that is why its history is so rich of various events. Every corner of this wonderful country has the breath of the old and of the grandeur of ancient times.

In Paris you will see the world known Cathedral of Virgin Mary, Louvre and many others. Leon will make an unforgettable impression with its medieval corners. It arose long before BC, and was the haunt of Roman Emperors. Do not miss the chance to visit the Châteaux of the Loire Valley, where each of the numerous castles will share with you their history and beauty. For those who would like to form a general idea of the country, but does not have much time to visit all the corners, “France in Miniature” is can be found not far from Paris.

France for gourmets

The French cuisine is so rich and diverse, that we will not even try to describe it – you should try it yourselves. Every region has its own culinary traditions and its specialty. White Burgundian snails, onion soup, goose liver, French Cheese and many others are among the most famous dishes.
France is invariably associated with wine. It is here that the world famous wines, champagnes and brandies are produced. It is generally assumed that one can examine the geography according to the names of wines and brandies. Of special interest are the vineyards of Bordeaux and Burgundia.

Climate

The territory of France is situated in a moderate climatic zone. Western winds are prevailing. They bring sea air masses, which soften the climate of coastal and internal areas. The climate is maritime in the West, and Mediterranean in the South-East and on the Corsica with clean weather, hot and dry summers and warm winters. And finally, cooler temperatures and more plentiful precipitations are characteristic of highland regions. Paris experiences medium temperature of 1 ºС till 6 ºС. The medium temperature in July reaches from 15 ºС till 25 ºС. In January the temperature reaches from 2 ºС till 10 ºС in Marseille Mediterranean coastline, and from 17 ºС till 29 ºС in July.
